Business Development Director - Renewables

Work Location: Beijing/Shanghai, China

Reporting To: China BD Head, ACWA Power China

Job Overview

The Senior Business Development role will be responsible for driving ACWA Power’s growth in the renewable energy sector within China. The role requires a strong focus on building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders, developing strategies for market entry, and leading business development initiatives. A background in State Grid is essential, as the candidate will leverage this experience to navigate regulatory environments and establish strategic partnerships.

Job Responsibilities

  • Market Strategy: Develop and implement the renewable energy business strategy for China, particularly in wind, solar, and hydrogen projects. This includes identifying market opportunities, evaluating potential projects, and conducting feasibility studies.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with public and private sector stakeholders, including government agencies, regulatory bodies, and local partners. Leverage prior experience with State Grid to facilitate approvals and partnerships.
  • Project Pipeline Development: Identify and assess renewable energy projects at different stages of development. Aim to build a project pipeline to meet the company’s long-term capacity goals.

Qualifications

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in power grid industry , with at least 3 years in a business development role in renewable energy industry.
  • Essential: Experience working with or for State Grid (or China South Grid), with a strong understanding of China’s power grid infrastructure and regulatory framework.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or related fields; advanced degree (MBA or related) is a plus.

Director/Executive Manager of Construction

Work Location: Based in Shanghai.

Job Overview

  • Maintain EMS, develop China Location construction strategy/plan and ensure construction implementation within China Location.

Handover Management:

In conjunction with location management team to ensure:

  • Provide functional leadership for project final handover.

Qualifications

Job Specific Knowledge:

  • Thorough understanding of the principles and practice of construction management and the implementation and improvement of management systems.
  • Strong coordination skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of scheduling and cost control for engineering, procurement and construction activities and interfaces.

Industry Specific Experience:

Senior Manager/ Manager – China Geo Risk Management

Work Location: Based in Shanghai.

Job Overview

To actively contribute to the development and the implementation of ACWA Power risk framework, systems and processes, with a specific focus on Geo level.

Responsibilities

  • Provide input for the development and enhancement of the Risk Management processes and systems across ACWA Power businesses, and support their implementation.

Deputy General Manager

Job Overview

Act as ACWA Power's Representative in JV and ensure the safe, efficient operation with profit, Responsible for plant operation and maintenance. Establish & implement O&M policies and procedures. Production & OM team management:

Executive Manager – Legal BD (Capital Markets & Corporate)

Job Overview

To provide comprehensive legal and risk management support for the company's key financial transactions and operations. This includes leading the drafting and negotiation of documentation for joint ventures, debt financing and merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions, conducting legal due diligence, advising on internal financial arrangements and overseeing compliance with the ACWA Power Group's compliance policies. The role also involves establishing effective legal risk management mechanisms, reviewing critical contracts, and coordinating with external counsel to protect the Company's interests. By leveraging his/her deep expertise in corporate and financial regulations and strong legal risk identification capabilities, the Executive Manager ensures the organization's transactions and financial activities are compliant and its interests are safeguarded.

Responsibilities

Financial Transactions Support:

  • Lead the drafting and negotiation of legal documentation for the Company's joint venture (JV) and equity market transactions (such as Panda bonds issuances) to ensure transaction documents comply with legal requirements and protect the Company's interests.
  • Independently conduct legal due diligence for M&A transactions, analyze transaction structures and contractual terms to identify potential and other legal risks, and provide optimization recommendations.

We are seeking an experienced Project Finance Senior Manager with extensive domestic financing experience in the renewable energy industry to support ACWA's domestic investment and project financing in China.

Responsibilities

  • Lead non-resource/limited recourse project financing for ACWA Power’s domestic renewable, green fuel and desalination investments.

Responsible for managing all General insurance issues related to renewable power projects, Seawater Desalination Project and any other ACWA Power business in China.
